lt's been a long time since the D40 has been on a photo outing. Got these this morning. Had to turn up the ISO to 800 because of the heavy overcast. l don't like to go higher than 800 on the old D40. Lens is Tamron 16-300.

Nice shooting. Yes, that's as high as I'll go with the *ist D as well.

Last week I found a Praktica Camera with a lens attached ... I meant a Carl Zeiss Jena 50mm f2.8 Preset M42 mount lens with a [disposable] camera attached to it for $30us

Lens focus ring and blades stuck and a huge dent on the front thread (what do you expect for a bargains?).
Here is one of the shots after fix the focus barrel stuck (I'm not brave enought to dissambling and messing with blades stuck)

Today arrived another Praktica Camera with a Carl Zeiss Jena 50mm f3.5 Preset M42 mount (14 blades, Red T and Q1)
Some of the first samples, wide open. Sharpness is not that bad as you can see

*istDL with cheap custom ~$9 pinhole body cap.

Not exactly a pretty image (and the pinhole cap quality is not great and really dirty) but looks really creepy.

I enjoy the results of pinhole photography and don't do nearly enough of it. Finding the "right subject" can be part of the battle ... you managed to succeed here

The dust-spots you see are the result of dust on the sensor, as you're probably aware. They can be easily (mostly) removed by using an appropriate filter/plug-in in your image editor of choice.

I don't believe the *ist DL has "Digital Preview" (neither does my *istDS), so a bit of "chimping" with the histogram enabled can help with exposure. You can always delete the ones that don't work if card-space is an issue.

I assume you're using a tripod or similar support
