It depends, I think. If you like to rely on the red dot focus indicator a manual lense can have front- or backfocus all the same like an af lens. The only difference lies in the motor, wich you do substitute by turning the focus ring. The internal optical elements are being moved to the focussing point either driven internally by the motor or externally by turning the ring. As soon as the red dot focus indicator shows up you stop turning the ring. The motor driving an af lens would stop it's movement right there too, simultaniously to the appearance of the red dot. So in case the red dot is used as a focus point reference, in my opinion the adjustment of the cameras' af to a manual lense will makes sense.
