Paul I'm on 2.02 and the range is selectable from a list in the C menu (first page), ISO "Corction in Auto", and options includes ISO 200 - 400, 200 -800, 200 -1600, & 200 - 3200. Mine is set to 200 - 800, but I usually set ISO manually as I shoot. No idea what the default is.

Thanks Richard, that's what I was looking for. 200-800 is the range I'd be using as well.

Last night I was reading reviews of the Optio A40, wondering what I'd do if my little A30 ever gave out, and came across this, published in 2007;

We do have some things in common..... we've had some rain over summer but half the state is still drought declared. Lots of problems for sure, but I see declining population as a good thing . I'm always thinking they should invest in desalination research, esp. with all the agriculture here. No easy solutions - it's getting hotter and drier, and we're getting less precip.

What type of batteries? I've been using Eneloops or equivalent for over 10 years with these cameras - never a problem. Otherwise, keep an eye on the Marketplace here (or on the 'bay) for a deal. Welcome and good luck!
