Paul I'm on 2.02 and the range is selectable from a list in the C menu (first page), ISO "Corction in Auto", and options includes ISO 200 - 400, 200 -800, 200 -1600, & 200 - 3200. Mine is set to 200 - 800, but I usually set ISO manually as I shoot. No idea what the default is.
Thanks Richard, that's what I was looking for. 200-800 is the range I'd be using as well.

Here's another early shot, taken while walking around the ballfields with the dog. DS + 18-55 kit lens.

@paulh Thanks for sharing your new *ist DS shot. Colours look vivid and well balanced and the image looks very detailed.
Here's a *ist DS vs. *ist D comparison. Might be interesting to try out those 7 picture modes.

Here's K100D + Asahi Pentax 135/2.5 again.

Yes, I remember those on my K100D. My wife used them but I never did. Might be fun

Bonus DS + 18-55 shot:

Imagine an *ist DS advert here! The world was a tad more normal back then.

Last night I was reading reviews of the Optio A40, wondering what I'd do if my little A30 ever gave out, and came across this, published in 2007;

"Since Pentax is due to merge with optics manufacturer Hoya this month, and co-develops its digital SLRs with Samsung, the end of the Optio range could mean the end of Pentax..." (Trusted Reviews)

..... some things never really change...

and dry
Our national news service, the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), ran a short feature online overnight on the now declining Californian population, citing drought, bushfires, and rising cost of living as contributing factors. We do have some things in common..... we've had some rain over summer but half the state is still drought declared. I knew exactly what you were talking about when you described the thin green ground cover you were seeing in your area a while back, farmers here were seeing similar things, and calling it a green drought.

Ain't that the truth!

Lots of problems for sure, but I see declining population as a good thing . I'm always thinking they should invest in desalination research, esp. with all the agriculture here. No easy solutions - it's getting hotter and drier, and we're getting less precip.

From the archive. People are queuing to get a seat on a Danish ferry boat for coffee and cake on a nearby island.

Nice shot! I have a strange vision of the boat after loading looking like a hedgehog with people sticking out of it everywhere!

I’ve got an *ist DS, but it no longer will turn on - I suspect the power supply capacitor needs replacing.

What type of batteries? I've been using Eneloops or equivalent for over 10 years with these cameras - never a problem. Otherwise, keep an eye on the Marketplace here (or on the 'bay) for a deal. Welcome and good luck!
