On the ground. They just use very tall drum sticks.

6mp RAWs workflow

Hello 6mp tribe

Just wondered if you exclusively stick to JPEGs - which are great! - or you also work with RAWs?
Could you please share pics developed from RAW files including your workflow?
Just rediscovered my 16-yo *ist DS and intend to dive in into RAW development soon.

Take a great pics this weekend!

Greetings! I only photograph raw. If you want to get the original Pentax color, with the possibility of correcting white balance, exposure, etc. Use Digital Camera Utility 5. Nothing else will give you complete authenticity. I could be wrong. But there is inner confidence. At least it can be compared). If you use other converters, you can squeeze out more dynamic range, sharpness.
Digital Camera Utility 5
if you cannot find the application, ask, I can help.

I'm a raw shooter as well, esp. with my CCD bodies. I get nice results from Rawtherapee and Darktable. On my K-5 I can usually get away with camera jpegs, but the K100D has a pretty good jpeg engine as well. Lovely shots, Ivan.

@cristof As K100D doesn't have RAW+JPEG option, I shoot only RAW. It makes sense to do so, as you can always develop to JPEGs looking almost identical to the SOOC ones, but with shooting JPEG only are your post-processing options quite limited.

For the most closely SOOC JPEG like conversion, the already mentioned 'Pentax Digital Camera' utility can be used, namely its 'Pentax Photo Lab' tool, in the full-auto mode, enabling batch conversions for multiple files. I got it (version 3) on a CD with K-m/K2000 in 2009 but it also works great with older K100D. It is Ichikawa SilkyPix RAW conversion engine with Pentax profiles and customisation. Not a Windows user? Never mind, with some minor glitches it runs on Wine in Linux all right.

I normally use RawTherapee - its conversion output is really good and still in the K100D style. The Darktable program mentioned by @paulh is also very capable, but I hate the commands moved and reordered with almost every new version.
