I second the advice to leave the batteries in for a while: These old things can take a while to 'wake' up if they've not been used for a long time. I just use energizer rechargeables.

ist*DS battery question

Years ago I had a battery that looked like two AA mounted side by side in the same housing. Two of these fit in the DS. Believe they were disposable. What is the battery called and is it still available?
Thanks,
barondla

That's the battery. A friend asked and I couldn't recall the name. Tried looking in the PF camera reviews but didn't find it mentioned. My search always turned up AA batteries. I always used Eneloop AA.
Thank you,
barondla

Besides the CR-V3, I have best luck with Eveready Energizer LITHIUM AA disposables and the Panasonic Eneloop (white version) rechargeable AA. Both run the Pentax AA cameras easily. The Eneloops don't loose all their charge sitting around, unlike most rechargeables. Sitting for a year they are still at 80%.

Thanks,
barondla

I own 3 *ist-series cameras, and have been using Eneloops for 12 years without a hiccup - I highly recommend them.

Same experience here. Have had to change internal to camera date - time solder in rechargeable lithium cell in Kx. Bit of a job and works well now. The other cameras same though note cannot leave battery out of ist Ds for too long as date - time goes away and needs to be entered again. Just make sure you check batteries regularly if left in cameras as I do. This keeps the date - time cell from doing too much work. Even alkalines work ok with my ist DS though with fewer shots of course.

Thanks Paul.

Out of interest this is part of the flower of the Robyn Gordon cultivar of the native Grevillea species.
