Compact Pentax FF

Hello,

Do you expect Pentax to offer a smaller and more compact "FF" camera than the existing Pentax K-1 complete with compulsory lenses to accompany it.

I feel Pentax 24-70 and 70-200 with f2.8 is too big and heavy, maybe with f4 is sufficient as long as there is no compromise in terms of sharpness and other characters.

Regards,
RTogog

Sony A-7 is the answer.

The DFA28-105 does not exist.

Doesn't seem to be a lens.

Isn't k-1 smaller than top offerings from canikon? D800/810 felt larger in hand, I think 5D also

No. The K-1 is already quite compact. Anything smaller will likely be a mirrorless design. I would not be surprised however to see a larger FF model at some point.

Not sure what compulsory lenses are? If you mean smaller or slower then I believe we will see additional lenses. We already have the DFA 28-105 which is a remarkable lens, and amazingly small. There is a longer lens on the roadmap and I think we will also see a DFA 18-35ish lens. At that point Pentax will have two sets of lenses: The DFA 15-30, 24-70 and 70-200 @f/2.8 and a slower and likely variable aperture DFA 18-35, 28-105 and 70-300. I suspect the long telephoto will be a 70-300 f/4.5-5.6ish. But a FF replacement of the DA*60-250 f/4 would be a very welcome surprise.

compact Pentax FF, yes I would like that, get rid of the unnecessary gps, flash, video, screens, have a simple iso, shutter, aperture controls, I wonder if they could make that, no meter, fully manual, no technology to get in the way of making images, and pop out the sd card into computer to view and print.

Yes, I'm not great at maths, so you'll have to help me here ...

If it costs $5 million to develop, produce and manufacture, and there are four buyers in the world, then each one would have to cost ...

Yes, we're going to be out of a lot of coin if it's just three of us!

Pentax is already known to have very compact dslr's as it is, if you want any more compact/smaller FF camera you might as well go the Sony/Leica route. As far as constant f4 zooms, you're limited to the aps-c lenses.

I think APS-C will permanently remain Pentax's compact DSLR offering since we already have all the tiny limiteds. However, it would be interesting if they could come up with a FF GR model.
