Looking for info. How do I select a focus point in live view?

I find once the camera gets focussed on the background it can be very difficult to get it onto the subject like a mushroom doing macro. Is there a trick? It's an issue both with my K-1, where I have to use live view to take advantage of the flippy screen, and all the time on XG-1.

The focus mode (auto, spot, select) can be chosen via the control panel. Then, either press and hold the OK button, or press the AF point selection button, depending on model.

Select mode should work well for macros, though for other shots I recommend auto mode, which focuses more quickly.

For macro, I like to set manual focus, live view, pick my focal distance and then move the camera back and forth untill the part I want is in focus. Kind of like macro rails but with your hands.
