Finally got to put the KP to "work"... I think I got a few "keepers"...

These are a few shots from my KP from my previous trip to South Dakota and the Black Hills. I didn't realize Photobucket had stopped hosting images, that really stinks, I will be moving all 775 mine to my OneDrive account at some point. Anyways all of these were with the KP, I will note what lens I used under each one.

I hope you all enjoy the photographs. The KP is an awesome camera even at ISO 6400, I also used only the 15mm DA HD Limited, 20-40mm DA HD Limited, 35mm DA HD Limited, 55mm DA SMC *, 300mm DA SMC * on this trip. The K3 II and 16-85mm DA HD, 55-300mm DA HD (non-PLM), 50mm DA SMC stayed at home. I do have the 70-200 D FA HD coming to fill in my gap for a fast telephoto - sure would have been nice on this trip but a managed - just fine. I had plenty out of the 2,000 frames that didn't turn out, these more or less did. Also the 300mm DA SMC * is a HONEY of a lens - I just love it even wide open at F4 - it never stopped amazing me! Even stopped down to F5.6 or F8 the magic kept coming...

Can't view the photos due to Photobucket's silly new restrictions

Thanks Adam, I just realized that after posting them. I will get them on my one drive now then... I have 775 images over ten years to move now!

I got them all up took a few extra minutes to upload to One Drive then insert each / embed them as a photo in the forum but hey it worked and I am away from Photobucket - which really stinks what they did to users!

Thank you! I just showed 20 some keepers out of approx. 2,000 frames I sure would hope I had a few good ones and I did. I think the quality of the photos speaks to the fine Pentax equipment in my bag rather than my photography skills.

All fine shots! High quality- lots of detail. The night scene came out very well. Seems like a perfect situation for the KP to be the preferred choice. Impressive wildlife shots, which are always a challenge! I've often been employing and enjoying as a KP kit- the DA 15mm and 20-40mm LTDs, DA* 50-135mm f/2.8, DA* 200mm f/2.8, and sometimes the FA* 300mm. Such wildlife opportunities, however, are not easy to come by!

Thanks for the kind words! I was very pleased with the performance by and large. The KP might not be a full fledged flagship but sure performs close to that level. Yes, wildlife is a lot of luck and knowing where to go...

More impressive was I wasn't using s tripod either!

Sounds like you have some nice glass. I will be paring mine with my new 70-200 D FA * now that is on the way as well. I think it will be a good pairing on the KP with large grip/battery grip and my K3II and battery grip also.

Thank you so much! I can't take much credit for the work as I was in a beautiful place and had awesome subjects. The KP is a really great camera and in many ways for me an even better fit than my K3II. Not that I don't like my K3II but the KP is unique for sure.

Yes do yourself a favor and get a KP from telephoto to wide angle work... Limited DA's to my 300 DA * no matter what is on the front of it the KP delivers the goods!
