THis one has made the rounds multiple times. Would be interesting to use silicone on it and use it as an astro camera only.

At least the fourth time that I've seen it. It might be worth it if you can get it for under $1000 but there are always people pushing the bidding to $1500-$1600. Then they back out. The seller should just list it for $1000 or best offer with no refunds or returns.

Here, check this thread. This camera is a disaster. Stay away. I think you will find there is far more than cosmetic damage. Does the shutter fire and an image get recorded? I'm sure one does. Is it what you want out of a K1? Really doubt it - all sorts of things are apt to be out of alignment/not working properly that won't reveal until it's too late and too much money has been spent. Think things like proper focus, condition of the pentaprism etc. This camera took a really severe hit. .

For that much money, I think I could find a pretty nice, undamaged camera. Maybe not a K1, but definitely something nicer than what I have now.

Even if it was tested and fully working, the structural integrity of the camera has been weakened.

For example, after a few years an slide-out keyboard phone started losing connection with the keyboard because the connecting cable started coming lose. If I slid the keyboard out slowly, it could be said to have been fully working. However, a dozen more times of sliding the keyboard and it severed permanently.

Definitely not worth the headache, unless you can also get an estimate on a repair that you can factor into the price.

An unbroken K-3 at half the price is so much better than a broken K-1. Just my opinion.

so it went for $1106 plus $11.15 shipping. Wow. Can't imagine why someone would pay that. Add Precision's flat rate repair cost of $312.50, and you're basically at the price of a nice used one that never took a hit. Dumbfounding. Also find it interesting that when looking at the bid history, the auction was setup as a "private listing", so you can't even vaguely tell who bid what.

My hope is that some kind of wizard bought it and had a K-01 already apart and waiting for a heart transplant...

The current buyer might end up asking questions in this forum like Dirtfisher did.

It's like a holy relic, isn't it?
