What should I pay for a red K-50?

I found one on eBay for $2200, wow! What a steal! 😂

The days of them getting blown out at B&H for $330 with the kit lens are long gone, and the ones I've seen online are priced excessively. What should I offer for a red body? No dough on hand at the moment, just an inquiry. Thanks!

There seems to be a category of online seller that specializes in selling discontinued electronics at far above original retail prices because they know there's always someone who desperately wants that particular model.

For $2200, I'd buy a K-1 but it's not red and it's not a K-50 which maybe is what some people really want.

Assuming the dealer seems legit, I'd offer what you are willing to pay and not a penny more but don't be surprised if the deal gets rejected because the seller would rather wait weeks, months, even years on the chance that someone will pay $2200.

I wouldn't pay no more than $300 with free shipping for a brand spanking new one or no more than $150 for a used one.

Given the amount failure rates with them, I'd probably just skip it completely at this point. I already fixed my black one. My red one is still going, but that aperture solenoid failure is always in the back of my mind.

Thanks everyone! All about what I thought. I think if I come up on one at a reasonable price, it will be "in the wild".

Unrelated, but I'm saving for the K70. I have about another $350 to go for the body and 18-135 lens.

^ Good choice.

Funny thing is that people are more than willing to pose for my red K-50, but then they hesitate to pose for my black K-50 'cause they think it's some kind of "professional" camera. Hahaha!

There is one on Gumtree in Australia at the moment, "less than 500 clicks" for AUD$620 (about USD$460) - pentax-k50-twin-lens-bundle

That site is cool. Didn't know about it until now.

EDIT: I don't know too much about DSLRs but 460USD doesn't sound too bad with that big Tamron lens thrown it.
