Just Got An FA50mm F1.4 For My k200d

Hey All,
The UPS truck arrived late last night and lens I've been wanting for a long time is finally in my hands. I tested it as soon I got it out of the box. I don't know why I shot the pic below at 800 ISO (in a hurry I guess) I wanted a lens that will be able to shoot low light subjects without having to set up a tripod. Is this picture too blue? Any settings for WB you all can recommend, should I have lowered the ISO and used a higher aperture (used aperture priority at f 1.4) and hope the SR does it job, looks noisy to me but at ISO 800, I guess it would. This is the first f 1.4 lens I've own since I was a teenager in 1973 when I had my Spotmatic F and used ASA 400 Ektachrome slide film. Anyone have any low light samples taken with this lens...hand held?

Thanks
Barry

You have two different sources of light there, the sky and the street lights. It's difficult to set the WB to cover both. The WB seems about right for the street lights but wrong for the sky.

I'd suggest stopping the lens down to f2 for sharper results and shooting raw for easy WB adjustment later on..

For tricky lighting, shoot in RAW and work out wb later.

Have you shot any other photos using this lens besides at dusk and in shadows? This is possible the worst setting you can be shooting in, especially hand held, with subjects in motion and wide open.

Any other examples?

It might look too blue to others, but I like the effect.

Give me time Jason, I just got the lens less than 24 hours ago. <g>
