Need Help...Error Message on K200D

Howdy All,

Here in korea. Got a Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG APO Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens today for $157 used. I think this is a good deal what do you think?

Anways, lense was working find earlier when bought lense, now i get a flashing "F" next to the battery meter. Is this something with the flash? or the lense, trying to find something online.

The kit 18-55mm lense works just fine. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

F--?
That means that body cannot read aperture from lens, ususally shown when using manual lenses.

Does your Sigma have an aperture ring? If it does, make sure the ring is set to the "A" position.

Alternatively, clean the contacts of the lens with a dry cloth, and try again.

Perhaps contacts need to be cleaned further, or the lens is not completely mounted correctly, or the lens is not all the way in the "A" position (there may be a button to press to get it to lock there). But there is no doubt whatsoever that the problem is the camera not being able to detect that the lens is in the "A" position. So keep trying.

Of course, the lens could be defective too - maybe the "A" position doesn't work - in which case, hopefully you can return it. Really, what you paid for it is not much less than it costs new.

Make sure that in your Custom menus, you have the [Aperture Ring] set to [Permitted], if the lens does not have an "A" aperture position. I personally see no reason not to set it anyway.

Just the solution I needed! Thank you so much. I can now use the old lenses from my Pentax ME Super that have been sitting in the cupboard for approx 25 years on my Pentax K200D. Yay!

f----- problem vivitar 'a' 70-210 f2-8.4 k200d

hi.. i've already posted this problem....
but another thread may help...
i've got the vivitar series 1 70-210 f2.-4 with the 'a' setting on the aperture ring..
i've cleaned the contacts on the lens, still getting the f------ reading in the k200d display panel....
i do have the lens itself on the 'a' setting....
is it possible that the lens itself is defective???
(just bought from b+h, as reputable a company as there is)
thanks all, dave m
