The Pentax KP officially supports tethering?!

I don't know how I missed this, but the recent Image Transmitter update notes seem to indicate that Ricoh quietly added official tethering support to the Pentax KP. Guess that makes the K-3 vs KP choice even harder!

I am interested in this also, the cost is a tough pill to swallow however.

Indeed. Hopefully if enough people support the development by picking up the software, though, it will become more accessible in the future.

Quite scary if not, given the amount of apparent demand for tethering in a crop body.
