The K-1 / K-1 II logo at the top is not engraved / painted on a small plate but directly on the cover. However the SR logo at the bottom is on a small plate. That's why (to my understanding) it's much easier and cheaper to replace that bottom small plate with a new "II" logo than the whole top cover with the "K-1 II" logo.

They have to show which K-1's have been upgraded, otherwise no way to recognize. And the easiest & cheapest way is to replace the small "SR" plate with a new "II" logo than the whole top cover.

Well, the modifications on the K-1 II are extremely easy to see on the screen... ISO will be boosted to over 800,000 and you can easily check it, as well as the horizon level through the viewfinder, etc, etc.
