I did a few with a 40mm and a 50mm on full frame at Carrie Fisher tribute a couple of years ago. I think my 85mm would have been better however these lenses worked for me.

love the 31mm and 77mm

I have the princess trio, 31-43-77 mm and I have neglected the 43. Here's an example of perspective differences when I shoot the 31 and the 77

I own the FA 31 for about two years now and it‘s my favourite portrait lens for pairs or groups. Since two weeks I also have the FA 77 and from the first pictures I‘m really impressed: sharp from wide open - at least in the center of the picture but that‘s where you usually put the models face, isn‘t it?

Funny, i would only do headshots with 77mm because i don't want to get too far away
I think staying in close contact with your subject is crucial in portraiture.

I'm lucky enough to own (or have owned) almost all the Pentax "portrait" lenses over the years, and even though I still have a FA*85, FA77, A*85 and K85 the lens I use most often for portraits is the DFA*50/1.4 - it doesn't give you that extra reach and separation from your subject, but if your models happen to be children (or pets) that often doesn't matter. The IQ, Bokeh, sharpness, DOF control and overall look is truly superb - if you get a chance to try one I'd highly recommend it

I get pretty good results with the FA 50 f/1.7 on my K-3.
