The 50-135 is a favorite of mine as is with so many others. Another favorite that I haven't seen mentioned is the 60-250. Not as fast but also a favorite. Can't have too many favorites.

The DA*50-135 is fabulous. Buy it.

It's *much* smaller than a full frame 70-200/2.8

It's perfectly usable wide open. Zoom in on her eyelashes in Flickr if you need proof.

Mine has had a hammering over several years covering live music, and the SDM hasn't missed a beat. Also wide open.

And the AW sealing can be a blessing
Thanks for sharing the photos and for the size comparison.

I purchased a used DA*50-135 that was already converted to screw drive a while back.
It is my favorite lens to date because it takes excellent photos if you do your part.
My second favorite is the DA*300, but it goes back and forth
They both have their uses/purposes.
One of my best photos of many with the DA*50-135

Nice shot. Looks very sharp indeed.

Should I add a new lens?
1. The choice for Pentax is more limited, but not impossible. I own the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM which on APS-C becomes a 105-300 mm,
purchased new before Sigma and Pentax stopped producing for Pentax, however it is an excellent zoom, but almost impossible to find with Pentax attack.

2. An alternative at a good price and still traceable is the Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM which equivalent to 70-200 on APS-C excellent optics, I've always heard about it well, buying it used not spendings a fortune and even the weight is modest only 770g.

3. Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM on Pentaxforums

4. Here is a link on Ebay

You have many proposals, you are spoilt for choice, good luck

I tried the Sigma 50-150 - while owning the 50-135 Pentax. While some say they are very similar I found the Sigma to be disconcertingly pudgy and awkward by comparison. I didn't like the texture of the surface of the lens barrel and I have never found the colors from the Sigma to be quite what they are on the 50-135. I realize I may be spoiled by the 50-135 and I'm happy I'm so lucky as to have been able to try both. Honestly if I had never used the 50-135 I probably would have been in love with the 50-150.
