They should redo that ENTIRE review, AND issue an apology...

Disgraceful. Multiple errors in a 'scientific' test? That place has been reduced to the TMZ/Fox News of the photographic world. Fake photographic news.

Disgusting.

Cheers,
Cameron

Disgusting.

You might want to add that it is the third article in a row that they screwed up big time (the original K-1 review also had errors, image file swapping, denials proven wrong afterwards and the pixelshift article had to be redone).

A test isn't "scientific" if you change more than one variable at a time, because then you aren't certain what you tested.
Should use same lens on different cameras if you are testing cameras.

Shouild actually use the same copy of the same lens. Of course, that isn’t possible.

Then they should use precisely the same lighting, position and exposure for each shot by each camera, right down to measured ISO rather than claimed ISO. The camera settings should start at an identical position, and each should be changed according to a set pattern. The processing should use precisely the same, neutral presets for every camera, without camera profiles to produce images for neutral viewing comparison. None of which is possible.

Therefore, by scientific convention, these tests can easily be manipulated with malice aforethought, can be bungled by ignorance or carelessness, are subject to manufacturer gaming and both standards bias and confirmation bias.

Thus conclusions must be subjective and must be clearly labeled subjective.

Really, though, the problem isn’t the testing protocol. The problem is the hubris to claim the tests are scientific when in fact they never can be so.

But - Ph.D. !!!

The simple fact is, their tests and commentary aren't rigorous. Their testers are unreliable, and their commentary is biased. And they are unfamiliar with the every day things Pentax users do tot get the best out of their cameras.

For Pentax users, the site is pretty much useless.
