Worthless Thieves! Stole my K3!!!

Yep last weekend someone got into my house while I was sleeping and made off with my (new to me) K3/grip/55-300mm lens, along with other items in my house totaling @ $4000!!!
Luckily I have insurance, but it still sux. I am very thankful they didnt get my large camera bag with my expensive lenses and old K5 body.....now that really would have been a heartbreak. I now have lined up a new purchase of the camera and grip.
what I am posting for is, does anybody here know how I could track/locate my camera via the metadata of the images it puts out if they are posted on the interweb? and if so, how can I go about it?
........getting security system in place as we speak!

My condolences on your loss. If you have the serial numbers you can notify the police and pawn shops to look out for your stuff. I don't know how you would track images using metadata.

This is even assuming they can sell the camera in the first place - they don't have the charger for the battery, that usually raises alarm bells with many of the pre-loved equipment sellers I know.

Just over a month ago I had a $13,000 flute stolen from me on a train...so I know how you feel. The instrument is Insured - however instrument is unique, and replacing it will be difficult.

Be sure to list the serial numbers of the stolen equipment here on this forum, under the serial number thread!

Sorry for the loss. I know the pain. A few years ago I walked away from camera bad for a few minutes. I had my Tamron 70-200 2.8 sitting on top of it. When I got back it was gone. I never saw anyone around me so I can only figure someone was following me. Like you I was able to replace it but it was still a pain. I had to go through two copies before I received the third one that was a good one.

don't know if they can help after the fact the items has been stolen

harder to prove you own the equipment
