My K100ds is broken

Last night I was taking photos of friends and then packed my camera away. Next time I picked up my K100ds the light meter wasn't working and the camera forgets date & time every time it's turned off and on again. Strangely it doesn't forget WB or manual lighting settings etc. The takes photos normally when on manual mode and light meter isn't needed.

I've left the battery door open for one full night, and set fresh batteries.

I don't think I've hit it with anything, dropped it or anything and there are no visual signs.. Luckily I have about 2,5 weeks left of warranty

This happens just when the fall is coming and the trees are turning yellow and red. At least I still have my film slrs and some color film.

EDIT: it seems that on shots I took just before it broke there are some hot pixels

But don't they use non-volatile memory? I don't know, but the OP suggested that some settings persist and others are forgotten. If they use volatile memory then all settings would be forgotten.

richard,
The configuration settings should be store in internal flash memory. Not the card of course.

I sent my k100ds for maintenance a few weeks ago and got an email that the camera body has been dropped and the warranty doesn't cover it. I guess I've bumped it to something, I'm not sure. Luckily I have insurance. Case closed
