Super Rare Pentax Takumar 100mm F2?

Pentax Takumar 100mm F2 M42

Can someone verify, only 250 were made? Anyone got info on this lens?

Did you check this entry in the PF Lens Reviews section? Takumar 100mm F2 Reviews - M42 Screwmount Telephoto Primes - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

It suggests only rumour about the limited number produced.

There was also this Forum thread about it. https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/10-pentax-slr-lens-discussion/131480-pha...orth-much.html

The Phantom Takumar 100mm F2: Is it really worth this much? - Page 2 - PentaxForums.com

Takumar 100/2

Seems like it is quite rare I found people who thought it didn't exist but no evidence of it being less than super rare.

Good luck. No sample photos. Seems like some wear, no pictures of optics, are there lens caps, how about a case. I can think of a lot of things I can buy for the more than $7000 you are asking.

If someone can verify it for you. You should give them a cut of your sale.

Hard to say if the asking price is reasonable -- what is an uncommon lens worth? Who knows.

Too rich for me, though!

In 2011 there was another sold for 4000 I think.

Rare = valuable ? = price willing to be paid

From a buyers perspective asking way too much. I am in the market for one if it turns up but that is no where near a reasonable trade. I would rather look at pictures of them than part with $7000.

I would MUCH rather buy a FA*300/2.8 and have some change.

One for the collector with deep pockets, I think, but the asking price is steep, as one went for $4,000 in 2011, and reportedly another around the same time for $700.

As a useful lens, I’d say there are many others that would better satisfy a photographer at that price: several for the same total price, indeed.

A whole system comes to mind. Pentax 645z + 90mm macro (second hand) = miles more enjoyment

It's a shame that this beautiful lens, at that price, will probably end up out to pasture, collecting dust on a collectors shelf. Personally I love shooting my older Takumars ...

The A* 135 f1.8 is my albatross... I can't imagine how lovely that is for portraits. But this 100 f2 is likely quite good. I do think anyone paying this level of coin is more likely to treat it as a museum piece.

I think one could buy all the D FA lenses for about $7,000. I have a couple truly collectible lenses but nothing like this. I use them just like $100 lenses. I might consider buying the A135/1.8 at KEH if it stays around, but the prices won’t hold. Besides, why is the seller selling - now?.

Buying this would be like the people who pay $700,000 for a restored Shelby 427SC Cobra then shrink wrap it. What’s the point?

" Investors " like that are not interested in the car Paul, only the profit they can make in 5 years when they resell it methinks !!
