Fun thread: If you were given $5,000 to spend...

Another shameless fun thread to help boost the post count for the raffle... If you're tired of them, feel free to ignore, but please consider posting

OK...

You're given USD $5,000 (approximately GBP £4,000, AUD $6,800, or equivalent in your local currency)... but you have to spend it within one month (or you lose it), on any or all of the following:

- Pentax-branded camera body or bodies - new or used, digital or film
- K, M42, Q, 645 or adaptable-mount lens(es) - any brand, new or used
- Accessories of any type - remotes, lighting and modifiers, tripods, filters, adapters etc.

The budget can be topped up with your own funds if it's insufficient. You can only choose equipment that is currently available in the new or used market (no waiting for planned or fictional yet-to-be-released products ).

Remember - you must spend it all in a month, or you lose it.... and only on the items listed (hardly a chore, right? )

How would you spend the money - and in the context of your existing kit, why?

Note: Apologies if the choice of forum for this post offends, but I couldn't think of a more suitable forum

The trinity.... DFA 15-30, DAF 24-70 - DFA*70-200, DFA 150-450, and I may have over spent. Oh , ya and the DFA*50 1.4.
If I don't have to pay for them,I don't care if they spend a lot of time on the shelf because they are too heavy to carry.

The next $5000 goes for the three amigos , 31, 43 and 77 and the DA 560,

How many $5000s do I get again?

I still want more.

That's not even enough to pick up an FA*250-600 on eBay. Why are you so cheap.

It's not even real money.

Next time make it $20,000, and I guarantee you, I can spend that too.

From what is currently in production, I'll have a KP body, thank you. And then buy/sell every available (new or used) 28ish mm lens, k mount or M42 or leitaxed or otherwise adaptable, until I find the one that really clicks. Whatever is left over I'll use to convert my daughter to pentax.

Happy with my cameras (K-1 and K-3), so I guess I would buy the 150-450 zoom and all the new FF 2.8 zooms (15-30, 24-70, and 70-200) - and now I'm a thousand bucks in the hole (and have an aching back from carrying it all)!

Looks like Norm and I are in the same boat (er, canoe?).

Think I'd get two or three of these and the various accessory bits that go with them. I like the idea of continuous light and flash capability, these good for both mobile and studio use.

I'd have some change too.

Dreams: FA*600/4 complete and pristine.

Reality: D FA150-450 + DA1.4x TC + Wimberley Gimbal Head + RRS ball heads and plates for my other stuff.

Delusional: A*1200/8 even if I have to add $5000 more of my own.

I dont know what pentax gear i would buy because i already have all what i want in k mount and the rest i could only buy from canon or nikon. So if i cant use the 5k to buy nikon gear, then i'll buy pentax gear for someone else who needs it.

HD Pentax-D FA 24-70mm F2.8 ED SDM WR: $1,247
HD Pentax-D FA* 70-200mm F2.8 ED DC AW: $1,777
HD Pentax-D FA* 50mm F1.4 SDM AW: $1,202

The left over $75 should buy some step-up-rings or some other photographic tidbit.

Well, the first 5k US$ I'd have to fund with some additional 2k € and I would click on "Buy now" to get the FA* 250-600 5.6 - just for the fun of posessing this monster.
The next 5k I'd spend on replacing my FA*´s (28-70 and 80-200) by their modern counterparts and getting the new D FA 50 1.4.
Well ... the 3rd 5k I'd probably spend on a FA* 300 2.8 and an additional K-1 II body...

Seems like there is no end to my LBA ;-)

$5000 in M42 lenses, that would be quite a LBA bender. However given a shopping spree like that, I'd probably
take opportunity to purchase new gear that would otherwise not be of pressing need. Certainly the constrain that
it must be spent immediately puts some items before others, (as defined below).

All purchases new from BHPhoto. The rules allow for used gear, but honestly pricing is too subjective.
Going new is far easier, even if my prize dollar doesn't reach as far.

K-1 $1599 I have all intent to someday get a FF camera and enjoy the FOV I was accustomed to with 35mm.
Aside from that, I have no real pressing need for FF. My K-3 certainly provides all the resolution for the work
that I do. To that end, I think I would be happy with a K-1, rather than a K-1II

FA43 $520 This lens is high on my current want list. Normally I'd wait for a deeper discount, but no matter, it's
prize money.

DA21 $497 Also high on my current want list. Fits the hole I have between the DA15 and DA35.

FA31 $900 Much desired but otherwise not a current priority. As a freebie from prize money, it's a no brainer.

DA20-40 $697 Of all the zooms presently available, this is the only one that piques my interest. The FL range
is right there in my preferred zone and the Limited build is much appreciated.

Tripod $787+ Remainder from above. My current Induro is adequate for my K-3 but I wouldn't mind a beefier rig,
especially for the K-1.

Shortlisted items that didn't make the cut within budget:

KP $897 I really like the design of this camera but simply can not justify it as a need. Hoping the K-3II successor
incorporates much of the same design elements.
DFA*50 $1200 Very tempting. I'm sure I would be very proud to own this lens but would I really use it? It is after all
a big lens and I don't typically like big lenses, no matter the results.
645Z $5497 It puts me in the hole and I still have no lenses, but very tempting indeed.

Wish it were available:

K-3II successor - Would have easily found a place on the list, bumping the DA20-40 and FA31.
DFA 20/4 - My hopeful want for the roadmapped UWA. Easily replaces either the DA20-40 OR the FA31.
