Some things most Americans cannot do

understand a paper map

geography

speak any language other than English

I, on the other hand, do understand paper maps and know some geography
I prefer paper maps especially to the limited GPS views of a smart phone!

We were misplaced in a tiny West Virginia town at night last summer. The map did us no good - no readable street signs. What did help was a smart phone GPS that helped us identify which stretch of gravel corresponded to which tiny line on the map.

You must have not been following the map to begin with.

I guess that makes you one of the 30% then.

Me, I love maps and charts, especially old ones.

I would really like to find one of the area my Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Grandfather came from (Vimy France ca. 1600). But that's not going to happen.

I must have missed the inflection in his voice.

first thing I taught my young son when I was teaching him how to read a paper map

how to orient a map - so you are facing the direction the map is showing

we were in Chicago and I told him to lead the way and gave him the simple tourist map no scale of course but map was drawn so North was at the top of the map

of course, he held it wrong and went south when he thought he was going north

I'm a North up man myself, I still know which way I'm going.

He'd probably do better "down under".

Maps for me, most of the time!

SWMBO CAN'T follow a map at all easily/quickly - has to rely on sat-nav when she's on her own, and, even then has been "known" to get lost!

When we go out and I have to drive (which is most of the time!), I still have to do most of the navigating (means quite a lot of "errors, and so we have to stop many times for me to "sort things out"!)

Edited: when we go out "somewhere new", I try to print out maps (from Streetmap - not Google Maps which is terrible because the contrast and detail are very poor) and then mark the route with a coloured pen - then we have a half-decent chance of getting to the right destination!

No I was driving and my wife was using her iPhone in map-mode. She got confused and then we had no idea what direction we were pointing in or what roads we were looking at. So we switched drivers and I put my phone in GPS mode and were on the correct road in a matter of a minute or two. GPS mode enables you to tell which direction corresponds to the direction the car is facing and whether you need to turn left or right to get on the road you need.

Probably, but to me it seems like a data entry error. 8.3 fps is from the K-3, and does a 50 Mp APS-C sensor even exist?
No, but a 250mP APS-H sensor does. So, anything's possible!
