K-1 or K-1 mk II ??

Iím not a Pentax owner yet, but am in the market for a full frame camera and Pentax is on my (very) short list.

The K-1 is still available and $200 less than the Mk II. Which one should I buy?

Thanks for your advice!

Bart

I'd say it depends a bit on your budget.

If you're on a tight-ish budget, go with the K1. You may find one here on the Marketplace forums for sale, or on shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=889257&u=523490&m=66875&urllink=keh.com (here: Pentax K-1 Digital SLR Camera Body, Black {36.4 M/P} at KEH Camera Store)

If you have the extra cash in your pocket for it go, can't go wrong with the K-1 MkII.

I have a lightly used K-1ii in the marketplace right now. I agree with disconneckt. Both cameras are great. Let your budget decide.

The K1 is a remarkable camera body for the money. With the latest firmware update I found my complaints about imprecise focus to be fixed. I don't use all it can do, and thoroughly enjoy the low light capabilities.

The Mark II has a few things more. The autofocus is better, it can do a hand held pixel shift, it has an additional processor which does some image processing for better noise levels. A bit slower and battery life is a bit shorter.

Honestly, you can't go far wrong with either.

If hand held pixel shift not a big deal for you, you can prefer k1, or 200$ extra if you dont have a tight budget go for k1mii

You can't go wrong with either camera. It all depends on whether you need the "extra" features/processing power of the MKii. For a difference of $200... gonna depend on your budget. There's currently a MKii, with grip, in marketplace for a very reasonable price. (it's not mine btw).
