Pentax 100 YEARS anniversary 2019!

Asahi Pentax was founded in 1919! So technically Next Year is Pentax's 100 year anniversary! What will Pentax do for it's 100 year birthday? A New Medium Format with the new 100mp sensor? (Would be kinda epic releasing 100mp camera on the 100 year birthday) or maybe a new line of high end Pentax FF DSLR (Pentax k-2, 42mp sensor) ?

Already said this in another thread, but certainly an "anniversary special" K-1 II IMO. Perhaps not just a silver recolor

Asahi Optical Co and successors no longer exists. It was wholly merged into Hoya Corp. Pentax isn’t a company, per se. It is just a brand of cameras and lenses marketed by Ricoh Imaging Co. Ltd., and not even a trade name until 1957 or so. If Ricoh does anything to mark the 100th Anniversary of the Asahi Optical Co. It will be purely a marketing gimmick.

Truth kinda sucks! Pentax shouldn't have merged with another company!

I was hoping, Pentax would utilize Sony's new 42mp sensor. Nearly 3 years, since the release of their first full frame!

Pentax Corporation (a successor company) was the victim of a hostile takeover by Hoya Corp and a private equity firm, SPARX. It wasn’t really their choice. AFA a new FF Camera, IMO it is more likely Ricoh will announce some lenses - specifically updated DA* lenses - soon, then a new APSc flagship early next year. I suspect the new camera will be a clean-sheet new platform, replacing the K-7 platform on which the K-3ll is based.

So no New Medium Format either? What a bummer! I was expecting a lot. Anyways they could have cashed in on their 100 year birthday! I guess new APS-C will do. Much like the KP.

Digital back for film SLRs, of course.

Or new non-AF lenses.
Or a K-1 that takes screw mount lenses.
