Correct, as the battery is smaller and lighter to keep the weight down for a compact design. The battery is so small it is easy to carry another extra one. But the KP also has an optional battery grip available, which can greatly expand the battery life and also provides a larger gripping surface with extra controls for vertical shooting, yet still keeping weight close to the same as the K-3 with no battery grip.

Are you more new or second hand oriented?
I also owned a k-x and later a K5 II, thinking about getting a new body for 18 to 24 months and waiting for K3-II successor.
k-x was a very capable camera and a great value purchase, K70 has the exact same argument. I personally expect a better AF than the one of the K70 which makes KP my default choice if nothing new comes in line soon
With k-x I have learned how to have extra AA batteries with me to swap when necessary. Battery life of K70 and KP are not a killer concern as it is easy to have one or two extra ones in the pocket. Also KP has an available grip
