It is funny. Althought I didnt do an extensive test, some m42 lens that I have tend to underexpose at higher f without any split screen so it might not be a problem of the Katz-eye
Although it is not a problem exclusive to the katz-eye, the focus screen has a direct effect on metering, and with different screens available for the K10D (two katz versions and the DS screen), certain screens are better than others for use with M42 and manual lenses.

Based on discussion thus far, I would surmise that either a Katz without optibrite, or a DS screen would be the best choice for use with stop-down lenses.

Cheers,
D

It would sure be nice if Pentax made a split screen that metered like their standard screen. Would also be nice if K10D replacement would use piggyback mirror like my Olympus Om4t. Then focus screen wouldn't have any thing to do with actual exposure.
thanks

Unfortunately the stock screen doesn't even meter properly...they need to tweak the way they meter.

It's not a problem exclusive to Pentax, if that makes people feel better. Minolta had the problem (Sony as well I assume), and I read that Canon does as well. Don't know about the other big players...
