K-1ii camera of distinction award

I saw a "best of 2018..." article in my "news feed" click bait, so I clicked it.

They had some kind words about the camera, and it gives a little more exposure to Pentax / Ricoh.

I didn't see anything about this in other threads...just thought I'd pass it along.

Good for people to be reminded that Pentax is still in business. My only complaint is that their words of praise towards the first {Fuji} camera "still retained the coveted old-school, tactile physical controls that so many of us yearn for in the field" could have been applied to Pentax also.

Imaging Resource is one of my favored photography review sites on the Web and has a history of balanced and valid reviews. Giving a few laurels to the K1ii is entirely within character.

The reviewer have falling audiences, good or bad, they are talking in the void, simply because customers haven't stupid, they know what they get out of their current camera model and don't upgrade to the newest model no matter what reviewers can say. I know a number of people using Canon and Nikon, they won't be buying anything for a while, no matter what reviewers say about the latest camera models. When I look at the price of the Fuji X system, it's crazy, their apsc prices have gone up even more expensive than full frame. You really need to have broken your camera and lenses to justify spending that much money on 2018 models that practically bring minor improvements over the previous models. Best lens of the year: Canon RF 50 1.2 => ugly bokeh; don't care about the Pentax DFA 50 1.4 which produces far far better bokeh than the canon; very commercial indeed.

Ha Ha, yes the U$ 1499 XT-3 its so so costly,it only shoots 30fps,it only has eye AF,it only shoots advanced 4K video...its terrible value.

The 27mm brand new with warranty pancake that arrived last week was costly too U$45,they ripped me off.

Utility is value. 30 fps for still isn't useful, I don't need 30 fps for taking photographs. I don't need eye AF, happens that depth of field has to be slightly larger than the depth of my subject to get good photographs, eye AF in only in recent cameras and millions of good people photos have been done without eye AF, value of eye AF for me is very low, it's like pixel shift, low value. 4k video, I don't even shoot HD video, value of 4K video for me is zero. What other gadget comes next that justify a price increase? I'm afraid that photographers make photographs, not the gear, and more gear gadget won't help. All prices are increasing, same composite blocks of metal, plastic, microchips made in china. Imagine new mirrorless models, more than 3 grands for a camera made in China... At that price you can have an extra large high end 4K TV, which has more tech and more material into it. The K1 is good value for money, the Fujis are less value for the money, fuji are overpriced.

Thats your personal needs, the people buying the XT-3 think differently to you. They like advanced cameras that do just about everything.

"They" told me "the rate of equipment in 2018 is maximum" , guys using 5DIII don't even upgrade to a 5DIV, the cost of upgrading can't be justified unless the 5DIII stops working. In fact, the amount of reviewing a repetition of "best camera of the year 2018" has never been so much before 2018. There was never so much spending to push sales of the D800, D810, D850... those cameras sold without pushing. In 2018, we have something like "Z6 hands on review" , "Z preliminary review", "Z review video", "Z post review" , "Best camera of the year" "Best lens of the year", "worst lens of the year" , "EOS R vs A7 vs Z" etc etc etc.. Never seem so much hype for any camera models in the last 20 years. If the new features are so good, no need to push, people come pick-up their cameras in the shops or amazon.

"They" are welcome to spend their extra $500 on a camera that has such pathetic performance at higher ISO values.

As long as enthusiastic Pentax users continue to work there, imaging resource will remain a stronghold of informed opinion on Pentax bodies. Other sites with fad-driven or diehard NiCanyji fanboy reviews will struggle with Pentax' refusal to join their crowd. Too bad for them

They didn't consult with DPREVIEW )))

I prefer IR, because of more professional approach to cameras...
