Two bodies APS & FF best mobile lens setup

Dear Pentaxians!

I am waiting for second body K1 II. I have K3 II. Currently I have new type Pentax 100 WR and 77 Limited lenses. My target is complete my setup to get comfort when I get it with me. For my telephoto on list I have Pentax 70-200 AW, but I am stuck with wide angle len what choose?

My dream is:
  1. no problem with shooting on rain and snow
  2. light weight
  3. compact size
  4. compatible with Full Frame and APS-C
  5. no doubling view angle with my currents lens (it must be unique and not similar for what I have)
  6. It is len for landscape and hiking and to document more dynamic actions with wide angle (dancing, singing, playing games)
  7. Prefered brand is Pentax, but is not necessary
  8. Autofocus is needed
  9. Filter mount is necessary - compatibility out box with polarizer and ND
  10. IQ is what interesting me
  11. My prefered angle is above 10mm and below 40mm, optimal will be something like 15-18mm.
  12. Zoom or prime is not matter

I think about 15/4 Limited but is only compatible with AFS-C and no sealing. After few day research my choice is Pentax 24-70/2.8. But maybe you can show me better choice?

My plan is use both bodies simultanously. When I attach len to other body I will get new possibilities fx. for short tele I attach lens to APS-C and for portrait in room to K1 II. At this scenario fx. I am walking in mountaint with bodies attaches to my bag on chest and when I need landscape choose one, when macro - get second.

HD Pentax-D FA 15-30mm F2.8 ED SDM WR seems to be the only lens that really fits this .

A FL of 24mm will provide wide angle on both FF and APS-C. There is the fast-aperture Sigma 24mm f/1.8 which I have, and find to be quite a good lens. It is a versatile FL when on either camera. Good with low light use. The DFA 24-70mm f/2.8 would be a very fine choice, and has weather sealing. Not of light weight or compact size, however. A perfect matchup with the DFA 70-200mm f/2.8 tele zoom.

The Sigma AF 24mm f/2.8 macro is no longer made, but is a very fine performer, and is very lightweight and compact. I am sure it can be found on the used market at a reasonable price.

24 is not really wide enough in my opinion.

When I got my *istD it came with an FA J 18-35

I used this lens on my PZ-1 and my other lenses on the *istD. This gave much wider field of view for ultra wide shots. When I went fully digital I got a sigma 10-20 (cropped sensor lens) it got me even wider fov than the 18-35 on full frame.

Now that I have a K1 I am considering what to shoot at the wide end. Probably my samyang 14/2.8

I mainly shoot landscapes and the D FA 24-70 is my main lens. It's a very good lens and its wide enough for the vast majority of landscapes I shoot with my K-1. If I was shooting APS-C I would use a wider lens in the range of 10-20. If you need to go wider, the D FA 15-30 is very good, but large and heavy. I only need to go that wide for about 10% of my landscape shots. I recently added the Samyang 14 mm 2.8 and I use it when I want to have less size and weight than the 15-30. If I only use one lens, it's the 24-70. It I want to go even lighter, the D FA 28-105 is good with the Samyang 14 for ultra-wide, but the 28 is sometimes too narrow in view.

The DFA 15-30 is a very fine lens, I own one.

But it fails the requirements on 3 fronts......

Sounds like you need an ultra-wide prime to make sure you have a compact, lightweight lens.
So if you can find a Pentax FA 20 f/2.8 or FA* 24 f/2 (these meet all your criteria) or a Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 lens (you can buy this new, but cannot apply filters without complex fittings), you may have your desired wide angle lens for both APS-C and FF.

No such lens exists.
Which compromises are you willing to make?

Weight, size and filters? DFA15-30/2.8
WR? FA20/2.8 or FA*24/2.0 - maybe FA20-35/4.0
AF? Irix 15/2.4 Blackstone or Firefly

Agreed. Many of the qualities the OP asks for contradictory. As an example weather resistance is only offered by manufacturers brand lenses in the Pentax system.

There's an "ultra-wide single focus lens" on the Pentax roadmap for 2019 that might fill the bill. We don't know what the focal length will be; the roadmap indicates anything from 12 to 25mm!

For me I don't see the need to have wide angle for both formats, unless you already do,

Much of the reason for 2 bodies is to not change lenses, even with APS-C sensors I have a 10-20 on one body and a 28-75 on the other most of the time, and took advantage of the FOV of full frame when I first moved to digital by taking WA shots on film and longer (tele) shots on digital because that is what the different formats offered.

I am interesting:
1. possibility shoot on the rain and snow without headeach that I damage lens and camera
2. filter to use polariser and ND creatively
3. weight below 1 kilos (it should be nice 200g, but I can not find any solutions with WR and 20-40 zoom limited is not very interesting option for angle)

I am not looking for wide angle in both bodies, but I am looking for not duplicate solution fx (47mm on APS-C, 50mm with crop factor on FF). It is not problem for me get 70mm on the end in zoom if I can
get wide angle on beggining range. In reality I am looking more for FF lens to use with APS-C and FF bodies and get longer lens throught crop factor 1,5x on APS-C. I am open to another solution.

It is simple thing. If it is nightmare weather in mountain and temperature above 10 Celcius degree I has two bodies on me. If I see nice weather I swich on one body to 77 limited or 100 to get macro or portrait feature. If I see more interesting landscape than macro I switch to wide angle. At the end if I find more interesting distance subject - teleconverter with 100 macro or if I plan short hiking / walking below 10 kilometers in not demanding terraing telephoto len. On APS-C ~16mm or 28 on FF from crop factor is optimal choice. The best choice for angle is about 15mm, but when I think in perspective weight of 15-30 mm FF angle I can live with 28mm FF as optimal choice.

I do not want changing lens when I am in terrain. It would be nice get another angle to more creative stuff by simple changing them on bodies before I start to go.

The DFA 24-70 f2.8 probably makes the most sense, particularly if your other zoom is the DFA* 70-200. However, if you really want to leverage the advantages of a two camera, APS-C + FF system, you might want to think about having your APS-C camera specialize in telephoto lengths, for the simple reason that quality APS-C telephotos can be much smaller and lighter than corresponding FF telephoto glass. My APS-C + FF kit includes the K-1 and the KP with the DFA 28-105 and the FA 20-35 being used on the K-1 and the DA 55-300 PLM being used on the KP. That DA 55-300 is really a quite impressive lens for landscape photography and is significantly smaller and lighter than the DFA* 70-200 monster.

There are 3rd party Filter Holders for the 15-30mm. Although it does not meet your weight/size requirements, I would seriously consider the lens as it is truly exceptional.

I use the FAJ 18-35. It's not great but adequate if you are reducing the size of the image.
I bought the Samyang 14 2.8, but it's a difficult lens to fit in the camera bag, and it's never going to fit into any belt pouch I've seen.
My DA 10-17 fisheye and Sigma 8-16 both work from 15mm on.

Basically, I'm just treading water here until they release something I want.

In your position "loosely defined" I went of the 28-105, which has made the K-1 a useful hiking camera. I typically carry that the Samyang 14 or FAJ 18-35 , and the DA*200 and F 1.7 AF adapter. I really like keeping my weight down when walking distances.
