That's actually a very good point. Implementation of a hybrid viewfinder would have a significant impact on the shape and size of the prism housing and a drasticly altered silhouette. *IF* they are actually implementing this, it would be an excellent reason to not reveal the silhouette yet.

I hope they are implementing much improved AF at least up to the level of the D7200. The flippy screen from the K-1 would also be nice and maybe even implement some touch screen features. But at least improve AF. Improved battery tech while maintaining the same case as the D-LI90 would also be great. Make a battery with a higher capacity that can also be used in the previous K-3/K-5/K-7 cameras.

I'm not sure development is quite that advanced, just yet... But I applaud your optimism

I'm afraid not. Why? Because if Ricoh/Pentax comes up with such an idea, nobody will care (except us pentaxians), but when other manufacturers (Sony/Olympus) implements this the reviewers will go all ooh! and aaah! over this genious feature, and people will buy Sony or Olympus bexause of this feature and forget about Pentax.

But, as you rightly observe, we'll care... the dedicated Pentax users who frequent this forum and accept (if sometimes with a little frustration) the peculiarities of the brand. And we'll buy the equipment, regardless of biased reviews and review sites. A few members won't... yet they'll keep posting here, telling us about their Sony, Olympus, Fuji, Panasonic etc. cameras and all the great reviews, because these forums have become an inherent part of shooting Pentax for many

The camera is actually invisible - this is why the silhouette would be a giveaway. It still manages to work - despite bending light in ways that make it impossible to see the camera but not impossible to see through the viewfinder. Brilliant but difficult to explain to users.

Next year is 40th anniversary of the Pentax LX. Interchangeable viewfinders makes more sense than ever.

I can see three possible finders:
1. A conventional optical finder.
2. An electronic finder. Mirror goes into up position with this finder giving you effectively a mirrorless body.
3) A hybrid finder
A Binocular Viewfinder PLEASE, for those of us that have and typically use two eyes...

Bring your hands up to your face in a natural, relaxed motion. Where do they end up? Rotated outwards at about a 45 degree angle, and with your hands and fingers ready to grasp a sphere about the size of a baseball or a cricket ball. Or one of those squishy stress balls.

That's what this camera has: ergonomically designed spherical grips on each side of the camera with a button placed for each finger and thumb for different functions. That would be so obvious in silhouette, so clearly they can't let that out just yet.

Oh yes, people will laugh. And they'll keep on laughing right up until they shoot for a day with those squishy stress balls soothing their aching hands and then all the cameras will have them. And Pentax will win.
Only Laughter Of Joy that makes perfect sense! Just make the camera "natural" to hold and look through...

We all make mistakes - don't beat yourself up. It was actually about something I didn't want.

A flat top, similar to rangefinder-style mirror less cameras would make sense, aside from the viewfinder all cameras are more or less rectangular viewed from the front.

However, this is a speculation thread, and thus:

The camera is surrounded by artificial branches to help the photographer camouflage for wildlife photography.

So you're saying the new Pentax AF module can automagically track a moving Prius?

A wasted effort for those of us with monocular vision.

Until now, AF cameras could only track hybrids if the user manually pointed the camera in the car's direction. The next APS-C camera from Pentax will point itself in the direction of a Prius, at which point SAFOX 11 will be able to follow it as pulls away from stop signs and traffic lights (assuming that the camera is perpendicular to the roadway). Shades of Monty Python's cat detector van.

If the "silhouette" is like previously "leaked" bodies than it might reveal that the branding is "Ricoh" rather than "PENTAX".
