Ricoh published a nice visual guide explaining the different custom image modes for JPGs.

I'd recommend this to anyone caring a little even if just about the preview images for Raw files. The 50% of users who regularly shoot (also) JPG should be interested quite a bit.

Give further expression with PENTAX "Custom Image" | RICOH IMAGING

Nothing explains it better than sample images.
