I love my 2007 K10D (I don't have any 2008-2013 cameras, my other bodies are a K50 and a K-S1).

I think all of my Pentax bodies fall into that age range. My favorite CCD body is my K200D, which has the same sensor as my K10D but with a much simpler and more intuitive interface that just seems to allow me to more easily get the results I want. On the CMOS side of things, My K30 is the winner although I do miss the top LCD display. It has the highest shutter count of any of my cameras at around 25,000 but to date has thankfully not exhibited any symptoms of aperture block failure. I power it with Eneloops and battery life with them is outstanding, unlike when I was trying to use the proprietary, over-priced and under-performing D-Li109s. Interestingly, both of these bodies were marketed as middle-of-the-range units when they were new. To be honest, I've just never really warmed up to my Samsung GX20 (K20D clone). It would be the first to go if I decided to thin out my collection. Also receiving little use is my little blue Kx, which at last check has only 1,250 clicks on the shutter. I mainly keep it around because it's just so darned cute.

Boy! That's a tough call. They're all great in there own way, and especially for their time. Started with the K20d, amazing camera and sensor; moved to the K-5 and later the K-5IIs (definitely one of my favorites, another amazing camera); got the K-3, which though has a more advanced sensor, but it didn't wow me at first the way the K-5IIs did. I picked up a K-01 along the way (it became my favorite pocket camera with my FA31 on it) for along time before finally letting it go. So, in one sense they're all my favorites, for varying reasons, though ultimately it's probably a toss up between the K-5IIs and the K-3. There are other things, besides for the sensor, that makes the K-3 standout amongst my APS-c camera bodies. I'm about two years into K-1 ownership, so none of the APS-c bodies see much use from me these days, and my kit has gravitated to mostly full frame lenses (though I really do miss using my DA15, and I haven't let that lens go yet. The DA15 almost made me stay with the APS-c bodies. But you can't argue with 36 mp and the dynamic range that goes with the K-1, it is truly in a separate league, but I digress).

I still have and use 2 K-5II bodies daily. The K-5II is a pleasure to use, in any weather, and has a superb sensor and IBIS.

But you must have lenses too. With the DA 15 or FA 43 the K-5II is small and discrete; with the battery grip and lenses like the Sigma 50-500 it morphs into a well-balanced beast.

I have a K5ii and also a GX20 (K20D) that I no longer use.

I prefer the K5ii for everything, except for the body - the K10D/20D design was perfect for me.

Still using the K-3 I got in mid-2014, my only camera. Has never let me down and keeps taking amazing images, as long as I'm doing my homework as the photographer behind it. High-ISO capabilities of something like the KP are better of course, but it's not that you can't take great images with the K-3 even in low light (especially compared with the K-7, which I shot earlier).

Am quite curious about the new APS-C flagship Ricoh seems to have in the works and, if it delivers the goods, will likely upgrade to it, once it has been on the market for one or two years.

The last image I have of our late doggy dame Mora, done with my K-3 and the plastic-fantastic DA50. Image quality is still impeccable, even in 2019:

Bonus: High-ISO with the K-3, in this case ISO 5000 (gasp!), mixed ambient/incandescent light, no flash:

Nice Was that shot with an i/r filter, Wratten 87 or similar, on the lens, or is all the effect achieved with post-processing?

My main camera is still the Samsung GX-10 version of the K10D. Here are some snaps from so far this year:

K-3, K-7 and K-01.
My K-3 is my primary camera. I love it and I enjoy its versatility.

But I still love the K-7 at low ISO with a good quality prime. While my K-7 is my secondary body, I tend to take it when I am going rough: e.g. on construction site, in muddy area. The K-7 is built like a tank and its IQ at low ISO is very decent with a good prime.

My 5 cents.

Hi my first PENTAX digital was the K7, as always a problem getting film for my 6x7ii and 2 x 645 bodies with 17 lenses, so I sold the lot and stuck with the digital, as you say the K7 is built like a tank and I love chucking it in a backpack and shooting in inclement weather, I have a K1 and a bunch of lenses but still love the rugged old K7, regards Ian

So, what is your most successful Pentax camera model? In terms of ergonomics and quality? If you chose one?

Using the K-5 and K-3, both excellent cameras and both purchased second hand. They will last a long time, both still under 10,000 shutter actuations.
I think their IQ stands up very well, certainly enough for me.
I may, sometime in the future pick up a second hand KP.

I will in fact consider the next aps-c, the replacement for the K-3 II, I am anticipating a cracker of a camera to be produced.

K-5. I really liked the versatility of the CMOS sensor, opposed to the CCD one in the K10d I had before (actually still have it). It has the Pentax F 35-70 1:3.5-4.5 on it now which is a great lens for it. The weak corners prevent it from being used on my K-1.

I use my K-5, which I bought in 2011, when I need a more compact set up than the K-1 and for somewhat risky environments: kayaking, on business travels with just one carry-on, cycling ... Often with just the 18-135mm. Every time I pick it up again, I really enjoy the direct physical controls again. Less features than later cameras, but definitely one of the best in terms of interface and still amazing image quality.
