That would depend on your view of "pricey"! Mine was converted a few years ago for about £250.

You can read all about the ACS infrared services here.

Bought my first Pentax, K-200d in 2013 and K-x at 2014. K-5 came to me in summer of 2015.
K-x is getting less use, planning for IR-conversion. The other two are heavily in active duty!

Those are all older "film" lenses, yes? Lovely, no matter what lenses.[COLOR="Silver"]...
Thank you!

Correct, old film era glass. The 50mm, and 85mm were built from 1975-1977, the 30mm was built from 1975-1984 (according to the lens information section on this forum)

I got a K30 as an upgrade from the K110D that was my first foray into DSLRs (after using an ME Super and a Super A). I was very happy with that, and still sometimes carried the K110D as a second body. I only bought a K70 because I lost the K30 in Germany. Then, after several months, and to my surprise, the K30 (and lenses) came back in the post after being found by a cafe owner.

So now I use either, and still like the K30. But I think I'm a bit of an occasional user compared to some of you!

What's your favorite 2008-2013 APS-C Pentax DSLR
I missed this era. I used a K10D [2007] up until March 2018 when I upgraded to the KP. I'm the same way with vehicles, keeping them ~ 10 or more years if possible. On the plus side, I'm always amazed at the advancement of features and technology when I upgrade.

Went from a K20D and K200D to the K-5, and K-5 IIs. I still have all of them, but the two K-5's are still quite active, even though my KP and K-S2 are more often used. I still love the K-5's controls design and handling, and still love their image quality- especially the K-5 IIs.

I have 2 of the 10MP (K2000 & K200D) that have sporty rendering with ISO less than 800. I love the images they make. I have a K5 and K3 which changed the low light ISO paradigm. I really like their capabilities. I have the K1 and love it. I have 3 bags. One is the K200D with lenses in the mid range (50 to 200mm) for in the boat or kayak. another bag has the K5 and K3 with lenses in the 18 to 400mm range, including a DA* 300mm F4) and 1.4x and 2x teleconverters. This is my wildlife bag. The third bag has the K1 with lenses from 28 to 200mm, including a Tamron 70-200mm f2.8, Pentax 35-105mm f3.5 manual, K 55mm f1.8, and a M 100 f2.8 manual. This is my walking about, landscape, architecture, close wildlife, etc, bag.

Wow! What a pleasant surprise this has been. Thanks for the profusion of great responses; four pages of great insight. I couldn't have asked for better.

I have a K2000/K-m and K30. I purchased both at their EOL because I couldn't afford the more advanced models of the era. I have been very happy with my two choices, though; having a CCD and CMOS at my disposal over the years. Nevertheless, I've recently been considering "upgrading" to one of that era's more advances bodies. The K5 variants are well regarded it seems and I'm a bit enamored of the idea of finding a MP sweet spot for the
APS-C sensor of which 16MP seems to fit into.

When I moved from film to digital I started with the K10D which still produces nice results at lower ISO's I then moved to the K7 which was a better camera but was not really the improvement in image quality that I had hoped for. Very noisy sensor. My next DSLR was the K3 in late 2013 and I use it to this day. In fact the corners are even 'brassing' (magnesiuming) I'm still pleased with it but am ready for a new model. The KP did not strike me as an upgrade. I also have a K-01 which has the best sensor of my bunch and also has amazing battery life considering its a mirrorless camera.

My K5 is my main camera.
Very good piece of kit.

Have a K10 that also gets a workout now and again.

My favorite Pentax from this time is K200D. I would say that it has the most beautiful colours (compared to K-5II).
Second favorite camera is K10D, but banding breaks good impression of K10D. In Sams GX-10 banding almost disappeared, but it's dynamic range in highlights is not so good as in K10D.
