Originally posted by clackers Karen, the market's declining, and all those other companies you mentioned have had declining sales as far as we know. Hasselblad was even sold to a drone manufacturer.
Everyone will have to figure out a way to survive this market crash. By staying small, Pentax actually increased its market share last quarter, the big boys are in a lot of trouble, as a Canon exec explained.
Back in 2014, the market was for perhaps sixteen million bodies annually. Canon think that by 2021, 2022 it may be four to six million.
So, I think, stay away from YouTube bloggers and DPR (who are an Amazon sales catalogue, effectively, those ads all around the pages aren't to people's galleries, they're to products), don't fetishize camera releases (the mirrorless FF releases haven't worked for Nikon or Canon), and just enjoy your photography.
Your camera takes good pictures, whatever brand or model it is, the rest is up to you.
Hi. mr.Clackers,
thanks for your suggestion, however, if you are living in Japan , you will be hasty and begin to complain about Richo's laaaaaaaaaaag reaction. ( ´Д`)y━・~~
Just go to any camera store, or go to electronic product store's camera selling area in Japan, you will find that Pentax is always in the corner, just like a substitute player on any sport match who never get a chance for playing. ( ̄^ ̄)ゞ
I can see other camera makers' staff often show up in electronic product store, and give a little professional guide to the people who want to buy camera, however let me tell you that I never ever have seen a staff hired by Richo come to store for propaganda. ( ;´Д`)
I know, Pentax is no longer as popular as age of Frame. But still, this is full of sadness.
Pentax need to release the flagship in this year, catch the chance of "100 anniversary" to release, this make sense so much.
And again, I think this is a culture difference between our Japanese and western people.
Since the responsible person Kimio Tanaka said "we will bring some special and superise new product to fit 100 anniversary for our users" (ペンタックス100週年記念に合わせて、お客様に様々素敵な商品やサービスを用意しております、ぜひお楽しみください)
This means a "PROMISE" to users in Japan's culture, if Richo choose to announce or release the product in 2020, it will be harmful to Pentax users and soon destroy their trust and confidence about this brand.
