What in the wide wide world of sports make you guys think there is something new coming along anytime soon? Maybe in 6-9 months....maybe.

Yay economy indeed.

Unfortunately my day job is funded by Wall Street tax revenue, which is nil this year. Hopefully the Gov. or NY will let me hang around, but it's becoming uncertain....

Planned purchases are on hold for now. 2nd K20 and Siggy 70-200 will have to wait....

I'm just waiting until the k20d comes down in price to $800.00, which it is getting pretty dang close now at $860.00 at amazon. But in the meantime I couldn't hold out picking up a wide angle yesterday. I hit the buy it now for a 12-24. I was tired of waiting on the tamron 10-24 which is what I really wanted to check out. But I've had too many opportunities lately where I wanted a wide lens and all I have is my 10-17 FE and the kit that goes wide. My sigma 17-70 is not wide on the k10d. ;-)

I think Pentax is either working on, or is partnering with someone who is working on, a cropped senson which will rival FF sensors for High ISO, Low Noise, High Dynamic Range, and High Definition. Meanwhile, we can all acquire lenses which will take full advantage of the above.

Canon and Nikon come out with a new body every 3 months it seems in comparison to how fast Pentax works... I passed on the K20 in hopes for the new next gen, but I guess that was a futile mistake. I have too much money invested in lenses to jump ship. If the K20 had better low ISO performance I would be all over it, that is what I really want and that is what the other makers are offering.

And as for the economy... I work for Wachovia.

Ouch, hope your job down in NC is safe. Just heard a report on the news last night about layoffs down there.

That's not really a fair characterization. Sure, Canon has put out more more boides - that's because they address more different price points than Pentax does. But they don't actually upgrade a given model much if any faster than Pentax. That is, if Canon announces a camera in January, it's not like they announce the replacement *for that model* three months later. No, it's usually at least a year, just like Pentax.
