With patience and persistence you should be able to train yourself to use your right eye.

I assume that such training would be an option to solve the issue. On the other hand it would only require a tiny bit greater flexibility in the camera configuration options to assign the autofocus function to a different button. A simple fix at no cost. That's why I feel slightly reluctant to embrace the training option.

Although I’m right-side dominant, I find shooting with my left eye gives a different experience, albeit one hard to describe. However, I’ve used a viewfinder magnifier for some time, and that provides sufficient stand-off from the camera body to largely negate any issues with button or LCD interference, for me.
