Faulty K10D AE-L?

I was making extensive use of the AE-L (Auto exposure lock) button last weekend. Then yesterday I was just playing with the camera - trying something out, and I couldn't get the "AE-L" to work - the asterisk just wouldn't appear.

I tried going back to Tv mode, where I was using it before, in case it only works in certain modes, but nothing seemed to work.

I am now re-charging the battery, not because it needs it, but to give the camera a little off-line time to possibly reset.

Can anyone think of what stupid thing I might be doing wrong? Have you had similar problems with the "AE-L" button not working? Obviously at some stage it might be going back to the shop, but I wouldn't want to show myself up!

Thanks

Simon

I've used it with no problems, in P (program?) mode.

Well, the K10D has gone back to Pentax (via the shop where I bought it) today. The shop assitant verified the problem I had found and confirmed that he had not seen it before. I could be three or four weeks now without the camera... still, that gives me the chance to finish films in some of my other bodies. I'll let you know about progress.
