Any way to change the image counter?

Odd question, but is there any way to change the image counter in the camera? Specifically a KP? I see I can set it to 0, but how about another number?

Here's the back story:

I got a new to me KP, and was doing some comparisons between it and my KS-2. During this time I was swapping my SD card back and forth between camera's. Somewhere along the way my KP picked up the image number of my KS-2. Now they are both saying 8k+. I know it's not a big deal, and I can always read off the actual number of shutter actuations, but it still bugs me.

I've tried changing the file name on the computer and putting it back into the camera, but that doesn't work. Any thoughts?

check the KP owners manual page 111-113. Myself I have Lightroom change the file names on import to include the camer, date, and a sequential number.

The easiest way would be to format your card, take a photo, and change the number to 1 minus what you want the next number to be (by renaming the file on the card). After you snap another shot, you'll see it change to that

Thanks for this. I tried renaming the image without formatting the card and it didn't work. But doing exactly what you outlined did the trick!
