I can see launch price in the 1300-1400 EUR range. KP was at 1100 EUR if I remember well.
K1II is around 1800 EUR so a gap has to exist with "K2"

As I've said in one of the other threads, I think it'll be priced around US$1,300 - 1,400, and I suspect it'll be closer to the upper end of that. For some folks, it won't be worth that kind of money - in which case, the camera is not for them. Those looking for a new semi-pro (for want of a better term) APS-C camera will examine the performance and specification improvements over the KP as well as the K-3II that the new camera replaces, and if those improvements are significant enough, they'll pay the premium. If not, they'll buy the KP or a used K-3 / K-3II. Either way, there is no way this new camera will launch at US$1,200 (IMHO). It might reach that price during promotional discounts once initial demand settles...

That would be pretty high, lot more than double of what I thought!
Compare to the Canon 7DII or Nikon D500 as well as the launch price of the KP (~$1100 USD in 2017). Anything shy of ~$1400 USD initial pricing is fantasy.

Steve

(...paid $1296 USD, body only, for my K-3 in April 2014 from Adorama...yes, it was still full price even six months after launch...)

The D500, which is now 3 years old, still retails for $1400, so something close to that would be great...

Also, I'm not in the habit of telling companies how much I'm willing to pay before they tell me how much they want me to pay.

Frankly, I don't think they're in the habit of pricing based off the comments of a dozen or so individuals on a forum site. And even if they do, demand will drive the price within a few months of initial release. Within reason, of course.

Just because we're commenting on what the price might be, doesn't mean we're prepared to pay that amount

No worry, I guarantee that Ricoh Imaging does not monitor this forum, so your guesses are secure.

With any luck, they will print RICOH on the back. That will provide incentive to start a "Why I won't buy a K-?" thread. It was the consistent support of the original "Why I won't buy a K-3" cadre that bolstered my resistance for almost six month before paying the big bucks for that camera...

My guess would be somewhere in the $1399 to $1599 range. It doesn't have to be that far from the K-1 II, because it's aimed at those who are primarily shooting crop rather than FF, and thus wouldn't really discourage a purchase into the other system. Plus, there's going to be a fairly captive audience at launch. The price can always be reduced later on to attract more buyers who are on the fence.

That would put it close to A$3000 retail*. Dead in the water at that price.

Asahi man "Is a price around 1700 - 2000 $€ OK for an upper APS-C class than K-3 ll line?
