If something goes wrong don't blame Ricoh/Pentax. They warned you not to use microSD cards with adapters.

I have done it too. Never been an issue but also it is an infrequent situation since I only do it on occasion. None of my primary cards are micro.

EDIT: all of my occasional uses have been on K-3 as far as Pentax use.

You're a braver man than me Allen.
I won't risk it in the K-1.

I also avoid using micro SDs, keep them for handsets.

Well, they're handy in the phone. So, I do have a few, but they stay in the phone, so no adapter usage.

Same here. If I need to move files, I do it using Bluetooth or USB.

For giggles I purchased a couple of 1 TB Huawei Micro SDXC Cards with adapter for about $10-11 each. An amazing price. I just received them and formatted the 1TB card in my K1 and it works just fine.

This is for sure a fake card. Stop using it immediately before you lose your data.

Test it with h2testw to confirm this.

I use a few of the micros as I have them for phones and tablets... family of 4 here with lots of gadgets. I have not had any issues with the
micros though I only use Sandisks for them. I honestly dont use them much in my cameras... k20ds mostly.. sometimes k3s. Most of the times I use standard size Sds like Extremes.

I have to wonder if the melted cards might possibly be not caused directly by the micro card but the adapter. You can build a great microSd that functions awesome in a phone... stick it in an adapter with cheap contacts and Lots of resistence and I can see the micros heating up.

I have had issues with some of the adapters not working well. Slow read write speeds ... swap the adapter with a different one and its like night and day.
Al

Steve... samsung s5? Thought I was the only one still using that phone.

"madbrain" : I down loaded the test utility you suggested and the card did indeed fail! I tested them several times and they failed at different capacities. Before reading your post, I did upload to the card some files from my computer and used them in my K1, but never to the capacity that was stated on the test utility or of course the stated 1024GB capacity. I have since fired off to the specific eBay provider a WTF e-mail. Lesson learned. Thanks... $20+ wasted, live and learn...Thanks again!
