Or have you done the update on your K-S2? Maybe I should do a poll about this.
I've done the update.
I'm using the 55-300 PLM without issue on my K-S2. My K-5 on the other hand is very, very sad about this haha

My K-5 is also sad about being left behind by the KAF4 bandwagon.

I see two options - either we lobby Ricoh to supply the update, or we wait until Ricoh's 100 year anniversary in 2036, hoping they'll do a special anniversary edition K-5 with KAF4 support. One of these seems more likely to be a success. Not sure if Ricoh got the memo about what great cameras the K-5s continue to be.

(Third option: decompilation and community update of the firmware.)

Reverse engineer the KAF4 mount? Might work so long as there aren't any hardware incompatibilities between K-5 bodies and KAF4 lenses.

This is great. Just the other day I was thinking the KP had astrotracer and it took me a while for some reason to realize it did not xD. I'm sure I'll have other questions as things pop-up, so this is a good reference.

Yes, pop-up is the word. They haven't so far managed to make a camera that can do both - pop-up flash and GPS/AstroTracer. The Youtube channel CameraVille kinda got this wrong, or skipped over the details of it - the presenter here, Lee, claimed it had AstroTracer... which it does, but you need the additional gear, the O-GPS1 unit. This is the exact moment of that blooper:

Actually, the KP does have built-in Astrotracer; what it does not have is a built-in GPS unit. See p. 121 in the instructions.

It only has Astrotracer function when the external GPS attachment is fitted.

I think, to be clear, I should have said that the Astrotracer function is built-in and is always present in the camera, but cannot be activated unless and until the O-GPS1 Hotshoe Mounted Accessory GPS Unit is attached.
