k20d HDR?

I heard something about the k20d having HDR. Is that like what I've seen recently where people take pictures of clouds and they look super cool?

Favourite Feature of the K10D - Multi-exposure (images) [Page 1]: Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review

if you are talking about a feature that Pentax put in K10D/K20D to make it easier, but it is NOT classic HDR

You could have heard that the K20D does exposure bracketing, which is very useful if you're going to do HDR, but you still need to use a computer to put the shots together. Or it could be that people were using the built in multi-exposure feature as described in the post above.

I believe he es asking about the K20D's -dRange- setup, which is supposed to give a bit more dynamic range in exposures (200% expanded dynamic range). To be honest, I can't tell the difference (on screen). perhaps there is some difference when printing on high end printers.

This has nothing to do with HDR pictures (composite of two to several pictures of the same scene in order to get the maximum detail from shadow to highlight). That is another story which I plan to experiment sooner or later.

as he is writing "... where people take pictures of clouds and they look super cool?..." it can't be that feature - it is either multi-exposure or bracketing to do HDR w/ some software later... or it is a regular picture
processed w/ the likes of Topaz Adjust or Dynamic-Photo HDR to get that pseudo-HDR look.

Any chance you could post one of the cloud pictures? Might be useful to see one to work the problem.

You don't need HDR for "super cool" clouds. You just need super cool clouds!

NOT an HDR (and with the outdated/obsolete K10D)

While yes, egordon99, that is a cool picture, I was talking of ones that look like this....

I'm now finding out that it is more from lightroom and photoshop, but they call it the HDR look, which is why I was all confused when I heard the k20d had it in the body. Thanks everyone for responding.

Pentax adds HDR capabilities to their latest DSLRs

Quote : The user then simply needs to access the camera's HDR mode through the menu dial, set the camera up for the first shot, press the shutter, and off it goes. The internal sensors will then take three shots and combine them into a single HDR image.
