400,000 Shutter Count Club

My trusty K-50, bought new in July, 2015, just had another milestone. 400K shutter count on January 16, 2020. After 250K, in December, 2017, I sent it in to Precision for a CLA, but only to make sure it would last a bit longer. there were no problems with it. They said it needed the aperture block replaced, though there were no issues with exposure, I said go ahead. The actual 400,000 image had just a bird butt in it, so i tossed it. Here's the next worthwhile one, number 400256.

You get one worthwhile image every 256 shots!?

Nice one though.

I don't suppose they have many hummingbirds down under. I end up with mostly butts on some days. Thanks.

I shoot 10 000 in my most active years. So i will need at least 40 years before I can join the club, unless I set my camera to shoot 2000 blank frames in interval mode, every day.

Congrats ! I checked out the shutter actuations on my K10D which I bought new, in November, 2007. By the summer of 2011 I believe it was...I had 55-56,000 shutter actuations. It is still going strong.

Importing the most recent images last night, I was puzzled why my K-7 put the latest two in a different folder from the others made on the same day? Then the penny dropped - the images counter resets every 10,000. Haven’t done 400,000, though!

Yeah, kind of a surprise the first time that occurs. They ought to up that (to 100k?) - if for no other reason than to imply long life

Sort of like our Volvo manual: "the odometer will count to 1,000,000 miles and start over again"!

You should report to the dpreview guys. They have Pentax week. So they can report something good about Pentax. They always claim they want to do that.

Wow! That's impressive! Nice to see a post indicating the possible durability of Pentax cameras, and this not even a flagship model! I am the opposite kind of shooter. I still hang onto my habits from my years of shooting film. Along with that, the fact I habitually alternate between more than one camera, whoever winds up with older bodies I no longer use will get one with very light use.

Great shot of the hummingbird. Which lens?

Had not heard about this. Post a link and I'll give the K-50 a plug.

Thanks. That would be the Sigma 18-300mm 1:3.5-6.3 DC.
