As you can see below, sometimes more is better....

I'm not wishing for a new Pentax full frame, because the K-1 does everything that I need "for still photos".

Want better video? Get another camera brand that shoots in 4K.

If push comes to shove I've probably got enough Pentax 'backup' ... see my signature banner

If things really do go pear-shaped, there's a low-mileage 14-megapixel Samsung, a boxful of lens adaptors and a drawerful of "non-Pentax" lenses that really do need to be played with a little more

I'm not going out shooting with friends either. But that's the great thing about photography - it can be fully enjoyed when you are all by yourself.
Thanks for the reminder!

I do have a few at-home photo projects rattling in the less lit bit of the old cranium:

* some interval composite time lapse shots of glass objects in sunlight
* an interval composite of me cutting down the dead aspen tree in our yard
* trying to get nice shots of various holographic stickers/emblems
* finally doing a test-target shoot-out of all the lenses I've got
* figuring out how to mount the K-1 to one of my crappy telescope tripods
* finishing a partially-built frankenlens (a nested helicoid barrel from an old zoom P&S camera epoxied to a K-mount ring)

Whenever I am looking at getting another camera, my wife asks what I'm going to do with the one I already have. I tell her it will be a great backup to the new one. Consequently I have a backup-backup-backup-backup, as well as two "spares", and a "beater". (Camera, not wife!)

These days it is not some much a backup as horses for courses, for me at least.

I have a K-x and a K200D. The latter is my favorite (yummy CCD colors) but the former is way better in low light. The K-x also has live view which is the best way to rock an 85/1.4 lens.

I also have a Samsung NX1 and NX100. The former is better in every respect but the latter is small enough to take along everywhere I go.

I've got a K-S2 and K-30 as backups if something happened to my K-1. I've even got a Sony A7, but would have to wipe the dust off it before use. As soon as I bought my K-1 it got replaced as my full frame choice of weapon.

If worse comes to worse:
K-20D and K-10D on the shelf with a Canon P&S hidden away in a drawer.
I a box on the floor - Fujica ST-801, ST-901 and AZ-1 with autowinder. Eight rolls of Ektachrome in the fridge.
A Olympus XA, Nikon weather sealed P&S a Speed graphic (no film - bummer) and a 4x5 monorail with a box of Illford HP5 in the fridge.

I still have my WIndows phones and my current Motorolla, so cameras are not the problem. Lack of "roundtoits" is.

Huh?
Well I will assume you have confused me with someone else?
I have no interest in video and never said so. Nor do I think the K-1 is inadequate- my K-S2 already does all I need for photos. Well- so does even my K-r!
But there are so many on this forum that are looking forward to the K-new for its supposed advanced features, and thus I do also for the (hopefully)future K-1iii.
Simple as that.

I have a number of cameras, mostly interested in large format now, and my k3 is bulletproof. I have a K01, but honestly I’ve been wanting the k3 to die for 2 years so I can justify buying a kp, but it is too darn reliable!

Your K-3 will never die. Just buy the KP!

If my K-1 Mark II dies I have a spare. And a KP. And a 645Z if all else fails.

She'll be right mate. No need to cancel the barbie.
