K20D Warranty Promotion

Those of you buying K20D's, if you bought between 10-12-08 and 12-31-08 you should either get paperwork in your camera box for the 3 year warranty or you can fax your receipt to 919-501-7575 ATTN: K20D Extended Warranty or email it to info@pentax.com. This applies to folks buying from any Authorized US Retailer.

I ordered mine on Amazon right on the 13th and I was told I'll qualify once they process my paperwork. Here's to crossing my fingers.

Nope! Just an authorized retailer. Not sure if Prodogital, Cameta and those other popular ones apply.

Thanks for posting this. I'm in the same boat from Amazon on the 13th as well. BTW, I emailed Amazon and got a $30 refund after they dropped the price a week later. My credit has yet to show up though.

How did you find out about this extended warranty?

It was posted on DPreview about the warranty so I called to ask Pentax about it.

I'm also waiting for a refund from Amazon. Two + weeks in the making now. Their service has never been this shoddy.

He probably asked. That's all I did when the price changed and I didn't even have the camera yet. I wrote an email and kindly asked them if they'd adjust the price as it changed since I ordered and I had yet to receive the product.

They said they'd refund me the difference, which according to their page they have but I've yet to see the money.

I ordered the K20 from Amazon (Cameta) on 10/22 and received it 10/28. Then I heard about the 3 yr warranty and inquire to Pentax. They told me what to do and it arrived yesterday. I registered on line and all is set. Thanks Pentax! BTW, I paid 829 and now it is down to 789. Oh well, I still got a good deal. That is less than what I paid for my K10 almost 2 years ago.

I got the camera yesterday and emailed Pentax. Here is their response

"Thank you for contacting Pentax.

Any K20D purchased between October 12, 2008 and December 31, 2008 from an authorized Pentax dealer in the US qualifies for a free upgrade to the 3 yr. Pentax Extended Warranty. If you did not receive your warranty card from the dealer you can obtain one from Pentax
by emailing (pentaxinfo@pentax.com) or faxing (919-501-7575) a copy of your
dated proof of purchase (sales receipt, credit card statement, order
confirmation, packing slip, etc.) along with your name and address to
Pentax, Attn.: K20D Ext. Warranty. Upon receipt of your warranty card you
will need to register your warranty control number with your name, address
and camera's serial number by going to this website:
Pentax U.S.A., Inc. - Extended Warranty Registration
OR by calling the technical support center at the number below….

If you are in need of further assistance, please respond to this email or call our technical support center at 800-877-0155.

If you would like to participate in our new Pentax Survey, please call 1-800-350-3891.
"

It looks like you need the warranty card to register the control number.

I was very happy with their quick response to my query.
