Interesting cave shots - what is causing the orange glow in the 2nd?
These yellow "needles" have something to do with the unique mineral mix in the cave system (just interpreting what our guide told us).
A different tone in the Wikipedia shot could be probably explained by a different kind of lighting used or by a different white balance setting.

Thanks, and not just any old CCD?
That was a marketing name of diagonally arranged CFAs with additional smaller elements for capturing highlights. Not sure about their real qualities as they were discontinued and replaced by CMOS X-Trans sensors.

Do you know if this is the natural color of the rocks, Paul? They complement the cacti nicely.

No, those are man-made - but the green tint is a nice touch

Glass artisan in a tiny shop

An old one taken with my first digital camera, a Canon Powershot S30. I shot this camera until it literally fell to pieces. For me it was a fantastic tool at that time, truly pocketable, raw capable and it provided full manual control.

Thanks, Paul. It should be Calliteara pudibunda, the "pale tussock". The last time I found one, it was an almost white colored variety. As for the walks in the woods, I agree with you. I miss the vast forests in the south where you could literally walk for days under a canopy of green leaves. Here in the north we only have a few small patches of forest, but still.

Nice shots! Love the unicaterpillar
Those pinkish rocks make an interesting background to the trees.
