A stark contrast to how some of the hikes are around where I live. First, the local hikes I do here in the Pacific NW Cascades are basically hiking up a mountain under a dense tree canopy gaining 1000 feet (300m) per mile (1.6km) in elevation until you arrive at some vantage point - the trail's destination - or are now above the tree growth zone where you can finally see the lay of the land.
Secondly, if the hike is on a weekend and within 30 miles of Seattle, it is a zoo! There will be no parking and the trails well be packed with people.
