So I'm thinking about buying a CCD pocket camera... I'm looking at two old Pentax models - the S12 and the A40. Both have a 1/1.7" CCD sensor and a 3x lens (37-111mm f/2.8-5.4) which I'm totally fine with, I'd rather have f2.8 at 37mm than 24mm like the points and shoots are nowadays, and by the time you're at 35mm you're already at f4.5. They seem to be the same camera basically, with the A40 being slightly larger (but still really small) and having SR. But the S12 seems to be easier to find.
I'm not really looking into something large like the Panasonic LX3 or LX5 - though I *might* make an exception for the Olympus XZ-1 because, well, that lens is pure awesome. I've also looked at the Kodak V1073 - the sensor seems even better, it's a Kodak CCD, but I don't think these last as long.
I know rjbrett likes his A30 a lot, and it's basically the A40 with an older, slightly smaller sensor, but basically just as good.
What do you guys think? I don't think I have to ask you guys if it's worth it because I'm pretty sure you'll agree that it is
So I'm thinking A40 now but I'll have to wait for one to come by at a decent price.
