Hey, congrats! Just for grins I picked one of these up a few years ago too! I love how you can put a pair of AA Eneloops in them & they last for ages

Love those two. It was only because I remembered seeing your photos with the Canon A560 that I decided to grab the one that turned up yesterday.

Edit: Here are some quick test snaps with the A560 from a stroll along the bike path today, all shot raw using CHDK. I'm liking the results from this little thing a lot so far. Not really sure what I'll ever use it for, but I'm thinking along the lines of a cheap waterproof housing of some sort.

Catching up on this thread. As we've all discovered, can't say enough about the colors from CCDs. Seeing the work from all the K10Ds had me wishing I hadn't given mine up, but it's being expertly wielded by @Mbaez. Good to see images from the venerable Olympus E-1. That's the one I kept for CCD goodness. This one is a little noisy, so I might be inclined to go back to the RAW file and give it another go.

Picked up a random lot of four curious lenses, two vaguely defined 35's and an 80-200 along with a M42 teleconverter. It turned out the 35's are an Albinar Special 35 2.8 and the other is a Hanimex 35 2.8 and these two lenses have so far turned out to be the most shockingly sharp lenses I've used, perhaps ever. They are both larger than my other 35's and are well made. In any event, I decided to post a few test shots from my initial five minutes of toying with them. On another note the M42 teleconverter appears to have yellowed glass and seems to work fantastically, paired with a helicoid and a very fast M42 fifty this setup gives a great working distance - will post examples soon.

Anyhow, what do you guys think? K10D white balanced using an Expodisc with speedlight hitting the ceiling, nothing special, not that I don't get sharp results frequently, just surprised by these two lenses. Best 16 bucks I've spent in years.

Looks perfectly good to me People are a bit too obsessed with "clean" I think, it can make the pictures a bit artificial at times when they are "too clean".

The black and white looks fantastic. Great find.

Oh my god I didn't know this existed. I have a Canon powershot SD1300 that I could get the most out of now.

Well I tried to get the most out of it. This camera sure is a stinker. Lens is just unapologetically bad and no dynamic range to speak of.

Only "good" photo of the day.

That's a shame. I think there's a lot of variation from model to model in the results that are possible with CHDK on the old Canon compacts. I used to get decent results from my A1200 but the raw files needed some tweaking with the colour balance and saturation in Camera Raw. Meanwhile the A560 produces really nice results from the raw files just using the embedded profile at default settings.

But whenever I see any old Powershot for £10 or under, I can't resist getting it to give CHDK a try. Often the results are hideous, in which case I just redonate it to whichever charity shop I bought it from, but sometimes you hit on a winner.

When I was using this canon I was thinking to myself "ah this is why the point and shoot market died to smartphones". As even my dated Droid X from 2010 probably matched or beat it.

It's a shame Cybershots don't have the same hacks to allow raws. My Sony DSC-H20 is quite a good camera in good light (and sometimes not so good light ).
Part of me wishes Sony had made the original Rx100 with a CCD sensor since I think their EOL CCDs were better in terms of IQ than their earlier CMOS.
