I think it's very interesting that the name has not yet been announced. You'd think that for branding reasons, referring to the model by name rather than "upcoming advanced APS-C model" etc would resonate better with prospective customers, especially given the long development timeline.

I'm really hoping they go back to the old tradition and name it after a feature, not the mount, which is the thing that is least a feature - have to wait for a few more specs to suggest what -
so K-notK, in my books

If I can find the funds I'd like to call it "mine"

In keeping the the Theta Θ/θ (although Ricoh branded)

Kν or KN (Greek letter Nu, lower case or capital) or the KNu

Would that be pronounced with a silent k? I like the "call it mine'

K *ist
K-Cup, oops used
K-Y , don't go there

Maybe it will be the first digital K mount not to begin with K or an asterisk .. . .
the K mount film cameras went through the K names and then went to M, the L, then confusion, maybe this will be the MX, the the K1 successor will be the LX.n. Actually homage to the MX could make a little sense with the talk of the viewfinder

It could also be the SP (Super Pentaprism)

Now that I think about it, the K-2 would be a good one.
One of the first m42 mount 'Asahi Pentax' cameras was called the 'K' (1958).
When the m42 series ended with the flagship Spotmatic F, ES II, and the SP1000, the first ever K-Mount was called the K2 (1975), with the K-1000 coming later in the series, I believe.
Would be paying good homage to the new era dSLR by reviving this name.

K-2 stands between K-1 and K-3 and is naturally related to something extraordinary.

This concept reminds me of the 'natural relationship' between Canon's Rebel line and that silly tennis player. hahah

Pentax boxed them selves into a corner with the K-7 / K-5 / K-3 / K-1 countdown; leaves K-2 maybe, but then what will the NEXT one after that be called?
So we start going to the other side: K+3, K+5, K+7, etc.

It matters not. I just hope they vet the name against American word associations, which can be truly stupid.
You mean like Toyota labeling some of their cars "TRD"?
