10 reasons I will not buy K new

Despite the fact that the number of camera bodies i need is n + 1, n being the number of camera bodies the other guy has, I am not going to buy K new because;

1. I have too many cameras
2. I want to buy lenses (even though I have too many lenses)
3. APS-C, really?
4. I just added how much money I have spent on camera gears over the years
5. I don’t need it
6. I want to instead try Hasselblad 907X special edition I mean special edition did I mention it’s special edition?
7. My Tacoma has over 130,000 miles despite being 2017 model - I need a new truck
8. I want to buy a new wide format printer
9. Death to OVF (I use EVF for my M10 - that’s dumb)
10. Ok I’ll buy it

How about you guys?

#1. Yes - I have too many also.
#2. No, I have too many lenses.
#3. Yes - really.
#4. Camera/lens cost are fixed expenditures, not an investment.
#5. True dat
#6. I want a Phase One FX with the latest back AND the Achromatic back.
#7. I have just over 60,000 miles on my 2008 Subaru - you drive way too much.
#8. I have a nice printer that will print as large as I want - but I don't print that often.
#9. I love the OVF, it requires no power to work.
#10. No, I don't think so - especially if it does not have GPS.

Why don't you think it will have GPS?

#1 i've already the K-1, exclusively acquired for the ltd "three amigos";

#2 yes (even though I have the only necessary FA LIMITED lenses);

#3 relative ... ;

#4 Digital Camera/Lenses with their failures of automatic electronic control of diaphragm and autofocus motors ( sdm, plm, ...) are fixed expenditures, not an investment ;

#5 I don’t need it even i thought that, for Pentax, are absolute necessary production against apsc mirrorless of other brands... ;

6# I want a digital Pentax 67 with a no-bayer sensor and also a crop-mode for ff lenses ... and even the choice between a colours and a monochrome version ;

#7 not only for the climate change : better a cycle !

#8 idem : "I have a nice printer that will print as large as I want - but I don't print that often." ;

#9 "j'adore" OVF !!! ... and i think that, just now, is a great strategic choice for industrial production of cameras... and this is not a paradox.
"Death to EVF"? No.. i prefer to say:
" LONG LIFE TO THE OPTICAL VIEWFINDER !!!" ;

#10 No, ... for now; but apart this obviously subjective position and in any case, as Mies van der Rohe said :

Less is more

Can't think of ten reasons - yet - but the lack of built-in flash (for the 0.01% times I want it) plus having recently bought the O-GPS1 unit (assuming the K-new has built-in GPS instead of flash) will be considered factors.
I never thought I'd miss an articulated rear screen, but yes, it does come in handy!
I won't know if I "need" it until the final specifications are published ... if it's "only" 24 megapixel that'd be a downside ... if it's got super-duper multi-point hi-speed a/f with AI-powered-tracking that'd be a definite plus!

1. Maybe I do as well...
2. No, I'd like a new body first - I think I have a big margin of improvement there
3. No, why? to me it's one of many compromises, although I'd still like own a FF body sometime in the future
4. Eh...
5. Yeah, but I'd like to have it
6. NO
7. No
8. No
9. Uh... I use a K-01 with a loupe, does that count as an EVF?
10. Not until 200€ used I'm afraid

1. There's no such thing as too many cameras.
2. We all want to buy lenses.
3. APS-C has specific strengths, so yeah - totally.
4. I just forget how much I have spent on camera gear in recent years.
5. Since when did need have anything to do with it?
6. I have been avoiding Hasselblads for 40 years. That's not going to change.
7. I have a new car on a ship from Japan as we speak, so that one's moot.
8. My current printer is just fine.
9. OVF FTW.
10. Bring it on, baby!

Hi Fontan

The only right one is no 10.
All the others are just a side track.

10. But only when my cameras are due for replacement.

However, if I make some extra cash I'll get 3. Who knows?

1. I already own three great Pentax DSLRs: K-5, KP and K-1 - so essentially don't need another ... with the exception ...
2. ... it would offer clean 4K and HDMI video output with TimeCode supporting to trigger my newly acquired field recorder SoundDevices MixPre-6 II. A crazy idea maybe.
3. Apart from that I'd like to save money for a modern fast FF Pentax lens 50 or 85. The new 21Ltd, a future DFA31Ltd and 20-40Ltd are other options or simply a DFA*24/35mm.

So I guess - only if I'd get above mentioned functionality with the K-new I'd think about a purchase of K-new. Other manufacturers would always be second choice.

Lists. Schmits.

There is really only one consideration: Will I be able to loosen the purse strings enough to reach my hand in?

So if (or when) I buy the K-new is dependent on one - and only one - underlying factor: AggieMom.

I just sold my 35-year old Subaru XT with about that many miles, for about enough to buy the K-new (maybe - depends on advances over K-3)

Me too, after this week's hiking/wild camping trek. Gosh, the legs need a refresh.
